Alternative Treatment for Cancer

So, you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer. This can be a scary time because there are so many questions left unanswered, and a bunch of statistics that sometimes seem to be against you. Do not fret, however. There are many alternative treatments to really help these cancers, to take the pressure off of the medications you have been prescribed to take, as well as ease most if not all of the pain associated with these diseases. If you or your loved one has been experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, fatigue, and nausea and/or vomiting, stress, or sleep problems, these alternative medicines and techniques truly help. In some cases, alternative treatments alone have been enough to cure these illnesses, especially when the cancer was young. Either way, it is always good to consult with your physician before trying any of these below treatments.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can really help people with cancer. During the treatment, the practitioner uses tiny needles and inserts them into the client’s skin and particular points. The philosophy behind this is that these needles released blocked chi, or energy, in your body. These blocked bits of energy are what keep a person ill or in pain. By unblocking them, you are healing the ill. Make sure that if you are seeking out an acupuncturist that they are licensed and use sterile needles. Acupuncture has been proven to make clients feel better. Refer to your doctor before though, in case you have a low blood count, or are currently taking blood thinners.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is also a marvelously powerful tool. Fragrant oils are used by a practitioner in many ways. These essential oils, which come from plants and flowers, are burned, applied topically during message, or put in the client’s bath. They are meant to relax and heal the patient. Certainly, oils have been found to help clients deal with and minimalize pain. Aromatherapy is completely safe and recommended even for people who do not have cancer.

Exercise

Exercise is key to good health for everyone, and is thus extremely important to continue even when having cancer. When used moderately after and during treatments, exercise can help the patient manage symptoms. Gentle forms of exercise are most recommended for cancer patients, including walking and/or swimming. They can also help these clients limit stress and fatigue, and make sleep much easier a task.

Begin Yoga

In addition or instead of traditional exercise, cancer patients should most definitely use yoga. To inform, yoga is an eastern exercise routine, which specifically combines stretching movements and deep breathing. When done correctly, yoga relaxes and strengthens. Because so much breathing is involved, yoga extremely lessens stress. This is something very beneficial to cancer patients. Having cancer and not knowing what is next can be very stressful. Stress can make symptoms and illnesses worse. Easy forms of yoga are completely safe and equally beneficial. Talk to your doctor before you attend yoga classes or begin yoga at home.
